ACS began as a research division of Borg-Warner in the 1970′s with the mandate to develop a technology that could prevent a vehicle from being started if the driver was impaired. This research group was later incorporated in 1976 in the United States as Alcohol Countermeasure Systems, Inc., an Illinois corporation, and in Canada as Alcohol Countermeasure Systems Inc., an Ontario corporation. (The Canadian company was later renamed Alcohol Countermeasure Systems Corp. in 1986).
In 1991, Felix J.E. Comeau acquired both companies and under his guidance, ACS developed new alcohol sensing technologies that are used in a variety of applications spanning a variety of markets including automotive, industrial, law enforcement, as well as public and personal safety.
Mr. Comeau restructured the corporate group in 2005 by forming a holding company, Alcohol Countermeasure Systems (International) Inc. to be the parent of all companies within the group. Today, Alcohol Countermeasure Systems provides a coherent single vision with close attention to quality products and services. through offices in Europe, Scandinavia, Russia, China, Australasia and the Americas, employing over 500 talented individuals to design, manufacture and market some of the most accurate and reliable alcohol sensing equipment and to deliver the most professional alcohol interlock services in the world.

About ALCOLOCK Compliance Monitoring ProgramsUsing the INTELLIHUM™ anti-circumvention technology and trusted electrochemical alcohol sensors, ACS manufactures alcohol interlocks that are utilized through the ALCOLOCK branded service delivery network. Secure proprietary software applications allow ALCOLOCK ease of scheduling and managing client data while adhering to government regulations for client personal privacy and encryption.
